This past weekend, UCTV celebrated a full academic year of hard work and friendship with the annual spring banquet at the Nathan Hale. Awards were distributed to members that gave their all this year as laughs were had, dances were dabbed, and speeches were slurred. Disappointed that you missed out? Fortunately, there was a photographer present to capture every nuance of the night.

Advertising Director Ryan Glista has been guiding his department in the continuation of filming informational videos about UConn Service Learning and UConn Education Abroad. Keep an eye out for those if you want to learn more! This past Monday he conducted a DSLR workshop with great turnout of interested folks around campus. To keep updated on UCTV’s variety of workshops, keep checking out the website.

Think you’re an individual like this guy? Then make sure to check out Advertisements newly completely video on the Individualized Major program to find out how you can best make your own path (tie not included).

As you can see, UCTV is quite the pro at entertaining. The Entertainment Department will continue their professionalism with the return of UCTV Politics on Thursday, March 21st for its last two debates on the Arab-Israeli Conflict and a Bernie vs. Hillary debate. Both debates will be produced by the new producer of the show…(drumroll)…Bianca D’Agostino! Other show updates include a new episode recently put out by the lovely folks at Weekly Programming.

Think you could handle the mic? The UConn Tonight Show is look for a new host and producer of the show for next semester. Guests on the popular program have included Rosario Dawson and Susan the Herbst herself. If you’re interested, reach out to Entertainment Director Tony Tyson at entertainment@uctv.uconn.edu.

Michelle Delmazio (dazzling smile on the left) will be taking the position as new Entertainment Director! She will be replacing the previous Director, Tony Tyson (heartfelt father figure on the right). For next year, Michelle is looking for an assistant, so if you want to collab with a fun team, be sure to apply, also at entertainment@uctv.uconn.edu.

In other news, UCTV completed their semesterly photo shoot this past weekend, which can be seen by the fine-tuned cheesing here. The shoot includes professional headshots and group photos of each department. Our LinkedIn’s have never looked so good.

And check out that display of finely dressed, fresh-faced people. Know who these young lads and ladies are? The NEW BOARD voted in for next semester! I know what you’re thinking: how do I become one of them? Well, the board is not completely squaded up yet—a General Manager and Web Developer/Graphic Designer are still needed for next year. Know someone who might be interested? Tell them to apply!

In conclusion, deuces to this year’s board. You guys did it. You did stuff.UCTV10

UCTV Operations has been busy this past semester developing the new website for UCTV, which is now published and open to the public. Now all UCTV info can be found in this one convenient, well-designed, and beautifully laid out interface. Feel free to explore and check it out!

UCTV also hired our first intern: Emily Roth! She will be joining us for the Spring semester, shadowing each department every week to learn about what is going on across the studio. Emily has been doing a great job so far and we look forward to checking in with her later to give us the down low on the UCTV intern experience.

I know one of the craziest parts of my past week was seeing UConn basketball’s Jalen Adams make a (MORE THAN) half-court shot right at the buzzer against Cincinnati at the American Athletic Conference Basketball Tournament on Friday. Luckily, UCTV’s Sports Department has been there from Thursday to Sunday. Ryan Kim and Justin Ayer have been attending every game to recap the excitement for UConn basketball fans.

Sports not your thing? If you’re into music, UCTV’s Advertising Department has been hard at work finishing up the edits on a promotional video for Husky Records, UConn’s first and only official record label. They have also been pitching a big video to Sober Xpress, a local sober rides company owned by Lance Graziano. If you have been missing partying it up around Storrs over your Spring Break, you can look forward to their assistance when you get back.

But break can cause a nasty outbreak of wanderlust—I’m getting pretty overwhelmed by peoples’ Snapchat stories full of beach parties and exotic geotags. UCTV Advertising will also be filming an informational video about the UConn Study Abroad Program, so you can check out all the places you can go while also studying up (sort of). Or, for those on a tighter budget like me (Spring Break=treat yourself=woops=ramen for weeks), they will also be filming a video about UConn’s Office of Public Engagement Service Learning program, allowing students to get involved more locally.

And if you can’t get enough of UCTV yet, Advertising will be creating a video to promote UCTV Marketing Department’s #UCTVWaldo campaign. If you want to trade up that ramen for $100 in gift cards, you might want to stay tuned to check that out.

The UCTV website is up and running, so make sure to check out all the cool stuff posted on it! UCTV will be hosting a variety of workshops over the next few weeks that are open to everyone, so if you want to learn how to produce a great show and more, go to the Events page.

Marketing has had a successful second day with UCTV Waldo with several posts on social media. The final day will be on March 31st, so keep an eye out for our bright red Waldo shirts and don’t miss your last chance to enter to win $25 for four restaurants!

Coming up this week for sports is the continued coverage of the women’s NCAA tournament. There will be two games at Gampel and potentially two more for Bridgeport, so tune in and support your Husky ladies!

If you’re around the UCTV studio, make sure to lend your congratulations to the News Department. From the 13th to 15th, several UCTV members attended the College Media Association (CMA) conference, where UCTV News took home the Best Newscast Award (Emmy still pending).

In the realm of television coming at you live, UCTV is bringing a student-version of LL Cool J’s lip sync to UConn with UCTV Lip Sync on April 22nd from 5-7. Look out for our flyers so that you can sign up and compete for your chance to win an Apple Watch or $250! Unfortunately, Chrissy Teigen is unable to attend, but we will make sure to provide an equally random DJ to fill the spot.
